Sept 2009 to Jan 2010 ‘Planning for Success for Teenage Girls’

Social Skills course. Tailored for ASD teenage girls. Every Tuesday evening for 12 weeks in Richmond. Places limited to 10 girls plus 10 parents. FREE for members - A unique opportunity fully funded by The Lottery Fund. Fully subscribed.

Jan 2010 to March 2010 Art therapy course with renowned artist. At St Johns next to Richmond station. 8 session course to teach facial expression and body language awareness through portraiture skills. All artwork to be taken home by the girls. All materials and refreshments provided. Limited to 10 places. FREE for members. Fully subscribed.

Coffee mornings at The Crossway Centre, 306, Richmond Road, Twickenham. (behind St Stephens Church) Fridays 10.00am to 12.30pm. Please come and meet other members over tea and coffee in a supportive and relaxed environment. New members very welcome.

Sat 27 March Ballet at The Royal Opera House with backstage tour for Girls Connect

La Fille Mal Gardee 2pm

Parents and girls social evening. Date and venue to be confirmed

Science Centre guided tour followed by meal. Date to be confirmed.

O2 concert in corporate box. Donated by a corporate supporter of Girls Connect.

Dinner and drinks provided. Date and artist to be confirmed. FREE for members.

Ongoing:

    10am to 11am Sports at The Bridge — Palewell Common
    11am to 12pm Drama at The Bridge — All Saints Church, East Sheen
    Plus: Coffee for the parents of The Bridge and Girls Connect in the church coffee shop
    4pm to 6pm Youth Club at The Bridge — The Power Station, Mortlake High Street

  2. Weekly Yoga Classes with herbal tea and chat/support group afterwards for parents of Girls Connect, Me Too and Co and The Bridge. Please email Louise for details and to register.
  3. Chess classes for Girls Connect members every Wednesday evening 6pm to 7pm

Future events proposed:

  1. Proposed ‘Professionals Evening’. A social event/seminar for the Heads, SENCOs, therapists, counsellors, other professionals, government officials and members to meet, network and exchange ideas and support in order to improve the support for members’ ASD teenage girls at school and home.
  2. Beauty and Fashion workshop/classes for the girls to learn about looking their best. Eg. Mastering the skills of make-up, fashion styling, hair and grooming and feeling good about their appearance.
  3. Activity programme for the girls to develop social skills and a friendship group eg. Art, painting, pottery, yoga, cookery, dog walking, rock climbing etc.
